My Resourcing Shop

01745 562133- This is the number for Abakhan  I decided to visit Abakhan to pick up my fabrics and resources for my project. I decided  to go here because I loved the good variety  of resources to pick from and the low price. At first I had dunelm and abakhan in mind however once I had seen the variety at Abakhan I saw that they had all the things there what I was looking for. From abakhan I bought, gold tassel, white cotton fabric, rhinestone strip and stretchy white fabric, these where all the fabrics and resources I needed from there. I really liked how these resources  held up because they were durable and affordable.

feedback

My target audience for this dress is young adults so I asked my sister, aged 19, for feedback on my dress. These are the questions I asked her: How do you feel about the colour pallet of my dress? ( Rate out of 10) "I like the colour of the dress as it matches with the underlay which makes it stand out" 10/10 How do you feel about the style of my dress (1920's flapper) (Rate out of 10) "The style of the dress is really eye catching as it is embellished and has tassels which makes it stand out also" 10/10 How do you feel about the surface pattern on my dress?  (Rate out of 10) "I feel like the surface pattern could of blended into the style of the dress as orange doesn't complement these colours" 6/10 Give an overall rating of the dress out of 10 (why do you give it this?) Overall I give the dress a rating of 9 because I love the way you can style it into a top by wearing it with jeans/pants and it is really eye catching.

This is the surface pattern that I have made which I am going to transfer onto my fabric using screen printing.

Retail Report

Image
Since I am doing a tassel dress for my final piece I decided to look on online shopping websites and find some dresses that look similar to the style I am going for. First I looked at Pretty Little Thing and found this. I really like this dress because it layers the tassels which is something that I want to do, however the fit of the dress at the top isn't the same style that I am going for. Also I will change up the colour since I am not going for black. I then found this dress on boohoo and although this is black I really liked the way the top half of the dress looked and shape of the straps, this is a more similar way in which I am intending my dress to go. I like this one more because it follows the shape in which I am going for. I also like how the tassels are layered and this is which I am also aiming for in my work.

How I will make the rhinestone straps

I will buy some normal strap bands and then I will a strip of rhinestones. I will then sew the rhinestones onto the band. I will then attach this to the dress.

samples

I have made some samples already. When I first decided to go in the direction of religion I did a few initial samples that I thought related to religion so I did some different drawing of angels, I did a painted one and a traced on then I also did a traced one and added paint. I did all of these in using an orange/yellow colour pallet. I then scanned these into the computer and also did some edits from these and then used these as samples just to experiment. After I did all of my artist research I then did some samples of Raphael's work, I did a drawing inspired by one of Raphael's paintings. I then also scanned these into the computer and did some edits with this and used them as samples aswell.

How I Will Include My Artists In My Work

In my project Michelangelo's and Raphael's work will inspire me because the colours that they use in their work is what I am working towards, they have both used similar colours and similar techniques which I want to use also. I think that they also have gone for a very angelic, heavenly vibe that I would like to envision in my own work. Also I think that El Greco's work will help me in my own because his paintings look very realistic and are mostly portraits and of people. I think this will help me in my own work because it will help me to know how to draw and paint people and figures. Although I am looking to painting human figures I don't think that anything else from El Grecos work will help me as I am not inspired by the colours used, although I do enjoy the colours used I do not want to take this into my own work. Lastly I think that Leonardo's work will help me in my own because he also draws human figures however the figures look more angelic and the colou
